Israeli finalists from a global art contest will have their work displayed in the Bay Area in November and December.
The Bay Area–based Social Network Artists Competition originated the contest on Facebook and other social media to promote the Israeli artwork.
Israeli artists living all over the world submitted more than 200 works — including still lifes, portraits, landscapes and abstracts — through the competition’s website and Facebook page. Online visitors have so far cast more than 8,000 votes.
Three Bay Area exhibitions will be the first stops on a four-month tour for the competition’s 12 finalists. Some 30 works will be shown Nov. 11-16 at ZK Gallery, 213 Jefferson St., S.F.; Nov. 21-30 at the Oshman Family JCC, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto; and Dec. 2-21 at the Jewish Community Library, 1835 Ellis St., S.F.
The Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest and the S.F.-Haifa Sister City Committee are among the project’s co-sponsors. For information, visit www.snac-expo.com or call (650) 261-1643.
