Hanukkah | Latke Ball dance party celebrates chai year

San Francisco’s annual Latke Ball is turning 18.

Revelers pack the house at 2012 Latke Ball.

For its “chai” birthday, the holiday bash, held on Christmas Eve and hosted by the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, will offer two floors of dancing at Ruby Skye nightclub near Union Square. Partygoers can drink and celebrate until 2 a.m., with DJ Miles playing old-school hip-hop and top 40 on one floor, and DJ Shmumer playing melodic techno and electronic dance music on the second.

The Latke Ball, for ages 21 and over, is organized by the federation’s Young Adult Division, and ticket sales will benefit the federation’s young adult programming.

Advance tickets to the party, which starts at 9 p.m., are $30 for general admission or $45 for VIP; or $40 and $55, respectively, at the door. Ruby Skye is located at 420 Mason St., S.F.
