News U.S. Rahm Emanuel to face runoff in mayors race Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By JTA | March 6, 2015 Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will face a runoff after failing to garner the majority needed to claim reelection outright. Emanuel garnered the most votes in the five-way race on Feb. 24 but did not reach the necessary 50 percent threshold to avoid the runoff. He will face his closest competitor, Cook County Commissioner Jesus Garcia, in April. Emanuel finished with 45.4 percent of the vote and Garcia had 33.9 percent. Emanuel, the former White House chief of staff for President Obama, spent about $16 million on the campaign. — jta JTA Content distributed by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency news service. Also On J.
