Looking to announce its presence to local attorneys and judges, the newly formed Jewish Bar Association of San Francisco is hosting its first event at — fittingly enough — a bar.

According to organizers, the mixer is a casual event so people can get to know each other, enjoy a free drink and sign up for the mailing list. A more formal first event will be scheduled in San Francisco’s Financial District in the fall. Once up and running, the association also will seek to hold movie nights, dinners and lectures with guest speakers.

Its formation comes on the heels of the creation of the Jewish Bar Association of Los Angeles last year. The founder and president of the San Francisco group, attorney Ben Feuer, said the organization will “serve as an educational resource, voice and forum for members on issues relating to the practice of law, the courts and the community,” in addition to being a social group.

The kickoff mixer is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at the Royale, 800 Post St., S.F. For more information or to RSVP, send an email to [email protected].
