Shabbat Pride

The Reform contingent at the June 2014 S.F. Pride Parade

Pride weekend is here, and the Jewish community is ready to celebrate. Events include a Pride Freedom Seder at S.F. Congregation Sha’ar Zahav, a kosher “Pride B-Q” at Berkeley’s Congregation Beth El, a pre–Trans March Shabbat picnic organized by Keshet and Glitter Kehilla, and of course marching in the Pride Parade on Sunday. “HUBad SoMa Shul.” Chabad of S.F. happy hour. At San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking, 925 Mission St., Suite 108. 6 p.m. drinks and live music; 8 p.m. Shabbat service and dinner. Free, $25 suggested dinner donation.


Guadalupe River Trail Hike. Five-mile hike with Bay Area Jewish Singles Hiking Club. Meet at trailhead on Gold Street in Alviso. 2 p.m. $1 for each. (408) 817-5686. Jewish Culture Festival. Performances by Jeff Brody’s Klezmer Gypsy All Stars and Achi Ben Shalom, plus local artwork for sale, 18-minute “Chai Time” talks and Jewish food. At Temple Beth El, 3055 Porter Gulch Road, Aptos. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free.

Rocky Mountain Jewgrass. Live bluegrass with Jewish songs and lyrics. At Congregation B’nai Emunah, 3595 Taraval St., S.F. 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. $10-$20. Also June 29 at Freight & Salvage, 2020 Addison St., Berkeley. 8 p.m. $17-$19.


Blue Monday. JCF’s Young Adult Division and LGBT community join together to benefit the LGBT fund. At the Stud, 399 Ninth St., S.F. 6 to 9 p.m. $18 suggested.
