The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank shuttered the local office of a pan-Arab newspaper on Nov. 3, over its reporting on Palestinian security coordination with Israel. As Palestinian-Israeli street violence surged last month, the Al Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper accused the PA of jailing “dozens of (Palestinian) political prisoners on charges of resisting (the Israeli) occupation,” Reuters reported Nov. 6.

The newspaper, which publishes in London, Beirut and Doha, also accused the authority of torturing prisoners in Palestinian jails.  — jta
