
Arie Emeric Berkovits

Arie Emeric (“Eric”) Berkovits of Hillsborough passed away on December 22, 2015 at the age of 86. Arie was born in Cluj, Romania and spent his formative years in Israel prior to making a life for himself in California. Arie fought in the 1948 War of Independence and supported
several organizations supporting the strength and security of Israel. He
graduated from the University of San Francisco and enjoyed a successful career as the owner of Trident Trading Company, the exclusive importer and distributor of Wusthof Cutlery in the Western U.S.
Arie loved traveling, sports, and the company of his family and nine adoring grandchildren.
A beloved father, he is survived by daughters Elana (Stuart) Citrin of San Mateo, Naomi (Jeff) Silk of Hillsborough and son, Ron (Nina) Berkovits of Burlingame. He also leaves behind nine beautiful grandchildren: Emma, Sydney, and Helen Citrin; Ashton, Harris, and Abigail Silk; Jared, Sophie, and Zane Berkovits.
Loving cousin of Rose, David, and Vivienne Rosta of Melbourne, Australia, and uncle of Jacob (Terye) and Amnon (Tova) Levy of Foster City.
Arie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Berkovits, sister Rachel Levy, father Abraham Berkovits and mother Helen Berkovits.
Services were held at Peninsula Temple Sholom and interment at Home of Peace Cemetery, Colma.

Rachel Ovadia
Rachel Ovadia passed away January 21, 2016 with her family by her side in Walnut Creek, California.
A memorial service was held at Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco on Sunday, January 24.
Rachel was born on August 29, 1929 in Cairo, Egypt. She immigrated with her late husband and four children to San Francisco, California in 1964.
She worked hard and adjusted very well to her new life in the U.S. She was the pillar of the family. Rachel was loving, supportive, giving and a compassionate mother and grandmother.
Her interests included cooking, baking and gathering family members.
Rachel is survived by her brother and sister and children Joe, Isaac, Albert and Regina, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Michelle Stein, Mom, Grandma, Grammy, Aunt and friend, passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2016 in Santa Rosa, California, and has now joined her beloved husband Max Stein. She is survived by children Janet and Jeffrey Stein-Larson and Larry and Marie Stein and her grandchildren Heather and Robyn Stein. She will be remembered and missed by her family and friends.
Michelle was interred at Salem Memorial Park in Colma on January 27, 2016. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to Congregation Shomrei Torah of Santa Rosa, Congregation Beth Ami of Santa Rosa or the JCC of Sonoma County.
