From an editorial on “The Second Breakdown of Trotzky”(sic)
It is exceedingly difficult to get the true facts about the Communistic regime in Soviet Russia. Propaganda on both sides places every obstacle in the way. It is necessary to read between the lines of all reports. The latest of these reports tells of the second breakdown of the health of Trotzky and his going into a species of exile in the Caucasus, just as he was regaining the favor of the ruling authorities.
Meanwhile the return to the old policy of throttling private commercial enterprise has, as a high Soviet official admits, driven many thousands of Jews … out of employment, since most were engaged in business. Lately, however, the government had aided a portion of them to settle in colonies in the Crimea and the Ukraine, though the bulk of the burden of relief has fallen upon the Jews of the world, who, as we know, started a drive for a fund of $15,000,000 for the purpose, $100,000 of which was subscribed on the first day of the drive in San Francisco.
Probably Trotzky has found the effort to restore Russia’s financial and economic strength too great for him, since loans from the capitalistic nations were refused, and concessions were not generally popular or successful, and the Communistic Government thereupon incited uprisings among various nations, such as Trotzky himself predicted in a book. Russia thus remains an Ishmael among the nations.

From a JTA story about a national Jewish student group that urged Israel to talk to the PLO:
The North American Jewish Student Network adopted by a narrow margin a resolution at the close of its annual convention here advising Israel to “take the initiative” to find a solution to the Palestinian question, including meeting with the PLO under specified conditions. The resolution, passed by a vote of 55-48 after prolonged debate among the 200 delegates from university and college campuses all over the U.S. and Canada who attended the four-day conclave at Case-Western University, stated:
“Whereas there can be no solution to the Middle East conflict without Palestinian recognition of the Jewish right to self-determination and Israel’s recognition of the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, we advise Israel to take the initiative to find a solution to the Palestine question including meeting with the PLO …”
