An Israeli woman seriously injured in a stabbing at a West Bank supermarket has died.
Shlomit Krigman, 23, died on Jan. 26. She was in the Beit Horon settlement, located between Jerusalem and Modi’in, visiting her grandparents on Jan. 25 when she was attacked. A recent graduate of Ariel University, she is survived by her parents and six siblings.
A 58-year-old woman also stabbed in the attack remains hospitalized.
The two male Palestinian assailants who attacked the women were shot dead by the store’s security guard. The assailants, one from a nearby Palestinian village, are believed to have entered the settlement by coming up from a nearby riverbed and jumping the community’s fence.
In response to the deadly attack, which came in the wake of two others inside settlements within one week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is demanding the army create a “detailed and encompassing program” to protect West Bank settlements from terrorism.
In addition to the Jan. 25 attack, Dafna Meir, a mother of six, was stabbed to death in Otniel on Jan. 17, and the following day, a terrorist stabbed a pregnant woman in Tekoa, causing moderate injuries. — jta
