Latin American young adults ages 25-40 interested in Jewish culture, education and leadership met in Havana this week at a seminar that was put on hold for nearly six decades.
The Nahum Goldmann Fellowship seminar sponsored by the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture was held Feb. 14-16 in Havana. It was the first time the event took place in Cuba since 1959, according to organizers.
The program covered “the unique challenges facing Jewish communities in Latin America.” Conducted in Spanish and English, its theme was “Replenishing Jewish Cultural Life in Latin America.”
Participants met and engaged with their peers among the island’s Jewish community. This regional confab allows each community to share its best practices and aims to encourage partnership and collaboration among them. — jta
