A popular flavor of Girl Scout cookies can now be enjoyed by people with certain dietary restrictions, including vegans and those who keep kosher.

The beloved Thin Mint cookie is the first Girl Scout cookie to be certified kosher parve by the Orthodox Union, Pittsburgh’s Jewish Chronicle reported. That means Thin Mints do not contain meat or dairy ingredients, so those who keep kosher can enjoy them after — or before — any meal.

To make the cookies parve, Little Brownie Bakers, the company that makes Girl Scout cookies, removed whey, a byproduct of milk. It also replaced a flavor that contained dairy with a nondairy flavor.

The bakers say the new Thin Mints are indistinguishable in taste and texture from the crunchy, chocolaty, minty cookies of the past.

Thin Mints are the only parve Girl Scout cookie, but all the other cookie flavors are certified as kosher dairy. — kveller via jta
