Poet Silvi Alcivar

Love is in the air. The Bay Area is in love with Tu B’Av. At least five public events are celebrating what is often referred to as Jewish Valentine’s Day. Still to come is a drop-by at the JCC of San Francisco where poet Silvi Alcivar will create “on-demand” personalized love poems in the atrium, with free chocolates and refreshments while you wait. And in Petaluma, the Big Tent Love Story Slam will feature music, free rugelach and people (perhaps you?) sharing personal love stories.

Save your fork, there’s cheesecake. Rejuvenate your Jewish palate at Carmel’s 29th annual Jewish Food Festival, which will offer deli sandwiches, matzah ball soup, kugel, blintzes, chopped liver and many other classic favorites. There will also be art and gift vendors, storytelling, a traditional Jewish wedding re-enactment and live folk music. Free parking and shuttle from nearby Carmel Valley Middle School.
