The third annual global Shabbos Project next week will feature challah baking and group dinners, with five events scheduled for the Bay Area.
Created by South African Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein, the Shabbos Project will be celebrated in hundreds of cities around the world. Organizers said it reached 919 cities and 84 countries last year and that about 1 million people took part in the activities, most of which are hosted by Chabad centers.
Bay Area events scheduled are the Great Big Challah Bake at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto on Nov. 9; the Mega Challah Bake at the JCCSF on Nov. 10; a Jewish Students Unity Shabbat on Nov. 11 at Chabad of the Sunset in San Francisco; Zehut Shabbat 100 at the Haas-Lilienthal House in San Francisco on Nov. 11; and Shabbat Around the World at Chabad-Richmond Torah Center in San Francisco on Nov. 11.
