Congregation Beth Shalom of Napa Valley will honor its longtime music director, Gordon Lustig, at a Dec. 10 celebration and concert at the synagogue.
Special guests and performers include Rabbi Jason Gwasdoff and Cantor Lindy Passer of Temple Israel in Stockton, and other singers and musicians.
Said Beth Shalom Rabbi Lee Bycel, “We all wanted to honor Gordon for all that he does for our community. He uplifts us with his music, he inspires us with his song and he exhilarates us with his creativity.”
An alumnus of Camp Swig in Saratoga (now URJ Camp Newman in Santa Rosa), Lustig is a trained musician and composer who worked in Hollywood for years. He has led a parallel career as a Jewish songleader and composer of Jewish liturgical music. As Congregation Beth Shalom’s music director, he leads services, teaches young people and organizes special musical programs.
The evening includes Havdalah and special remarks, a concert organized by Lustig, and a reception.
The event begins at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 10 at Congregation Beth Shalom, 1455 Elm St., Napa. For tickets and more information, see www.cbsnapa.org.
