Staff | May 24, 2017 A Holocaust memorial dedicated to two Auschwitz survivors by their son will be unveiled Sunday, May 28, at the Santa Rosa Memorial Park in the area belonging to Congregation Beth Ami. The 5-by-6-foot mosaic wall, made of broken tile and mirror, was created by artist Leslie Gattmann and commissioned by Dennis Judd in honor of his parents, Emil and Lillian Judd, and their family’s victimization in the Holocaust. The memorial holds the names of family members and their ages at death, a quote from Elie Wiesel, the poem “We Remember Them” and a statement about genocide. The park is at 1900 Franklin St. in Santa Rosa. Gattmann said she is gathering the names of family members lost in the Holocaust of Bay Area residents and plans to cover two walls on either side of the Judd family memorial with about 300 names of Holocaust victims written in calligraphy on tiles.
