Staff | July 13, 2017 The Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City will offer free door-to-door transportation to San Mateo County residents over age 50 who no longer drive. The Get Up & Go program first launched in 2007, but had until now charged a fee for rides. Starting July 1, seniors who need lifts to the doctor or grocery store can take advantage of the program at no cost. PJCC membership is not required. Drivers are trained volunteer as well as PJCC staffers who drive wheelchair-enabled buses and minivans. The program also hosts low-cost lunches every Wednesday, followed by live music, health lectures, holiday celebrations, discussion groups and more. Registration is required and reservations must be made by the Wednesday prior to the week that service is needed. To reserve a ride, call (650) 378-2750. To volunteer as a driver or for more information, contact Betty Burr at (650) 378-2698 or [email protected]. J. Staff Also On J.
