Wine, singing, dancing — it’s all about the North Bay this weekend

Pack your bags and head north to Sonoma and Napa for a weekend of song, dance and fine wine, Jewish-style.

Kick things off on a high note at the “Summer of Love 50th Anniversary Dance Party” at Congregation Ner Shalom in Cotati. The Thugz will play groovy Grateful Dead tunes, as well as Thugz’ originals inspired by music greats from back in the day. A fashion show featuring hippie-era wearables, a raffle, liquid refreshments and munchies also guarantee a good time. 8:30-11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 85 La Plaza, Cotati. $15.

On Sunday, Santa Rosa Congregation Shomrei Torah joins nearby churches and a spiritual center to host an interfaith sing-along of spiritual, secular and campfire songs. Enjoy healthy vegetarian lasagna and bring a potluck dessert to share. No charge for this one but RSVP is required. 6:15-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13 at Shomrei Torah, 2600 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa. RSVP (707) 578-5519 or email [email protected].

So what to do in between the congregational events? Why not visit Hagafen Cellars, Napa County’s kosher winery. Founded in 1989 on the Silverado Trail, Ernie and Irit Weir’s winery features lovely gardens, vineyards, a wine store and Mediterranean-style tasting room. Sunday tours start at 10:30 a.m. (Please RSVP). Two-for-one tasting if you mention you saw their ad in J. 4160 Silverado Trail, Napa. Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.
