Staff | January 4, 2018 Shabbat will be welcomed with music on the second Friday of the next five months at the JCC of San Francisco. The Second Fridays Songwriters Series offers free performances in a coffeehouse-like atmosphere that will feature emerging Jewish songwriters from around the country. Each show starts at 4:30 p.m. at the JCC at 3200 California St. The Jan. 12 show features Ari Herstand, a Los Angeles-based DIY musician who uses live looping on stage to create a sound that incorporates piano, guitar, trumpet and percussion. On Feb. 9, the singer-songwriter duo Eric & Happie (Eric Hunker and Happie Hoffman of Tulsa, Oklahoma) will perform. West Coast vocalist Jewlia Eisenberg of the group Charming Hostess will join with acoustic guitarist and vocalist Jeremiah Lockwood of the Sway Machinery to perform “Book of J” on March 9, and the L.A.-based indie pop trio Distant Cousins is booked for April 13. The series will wrap up on May 11 with Chilean singer-songwriter Yael Meyer and her fusion of electronica, pop and folk music. J. Staff Also On J.
