Augie’s Montreal meats finally land on Valentine’s; Facebook’s kosher food truck

Ynet News was the first to report the news of a new kosher food truck at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park. According to this report, which was then picked up by the Forward, it’s called “Kosher Truck” and is actually a caravan that will park in different places on the Menlo Park campus, offering kosher Middle Eastern food and, sometimes, a short Torah study session.

While attempts to find out who was operating the truck or supervising it weren’t incredibly fruitful, a Facebook spokeswoman wrote:

“We’ve offered kosher dining options — as well as options to fit a variety of lifestyle choices and dietary needs and restrictions — for a long time. We see this as another way we can support a diverse population at Facebook.”

She added that the truck is owned by Facebook itself but wouldn’t offer any other information.

The long-awaited Augie’s Authentic Montreal Smoke Meat, which has been tantalizing Bay Area eaters with pop-ups for the past few years, is finally opening in Berkeley, on Valentine’s Day. Of course the Organic Epicure will brave the lines on opening day to bring you an early report, but if you want to join me, it’s at 875 Potter St. The doors open at 11 a.m.
