Israeli Film Festival comes to Sonoma County in March

The JCC Sonoma County will sponsor screenings of contemporary Israeli films every Tuesday in March.

The 2018 Israeli Film Festival kicks off on March 6 with “In Between,” a feature film about three young Palestinian women who share an apartment in modern Tel Aviv.

“Hill Start,” billed as a zany romantic comedy that starts with a car accident on a wedding day, follows on March 13. On March 20, the thriller “Past Life,” based on true events, follows two sisters on a trans-European odyssey as they try to unravel a disturbing mystery related to their father’s past.

“Maktub,” the closing film on March 27, is a stylish crime-comedy in which two thugs survive a terrorist attack and decide to change their ways. They lurk at the Western Wall to pick the lucky people whose wishes they will help grant, from the notes deposited in the holy stones.

Each film will be shown twice, at 1 and 7:30 p.m., at the Rialto Cinemas in Sebastopol. Passes and individual tickets are on sale now, with a limited number available at the theater on the day of the show. Visit jccsoco.org/iff2018 for tickets and information.
