Three Bay Area Federations are committed to collaboration

The Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, the Jewish Federation and The Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay and the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley have a century-long legacy of impact in ensuring a thriving Jewish community, from providing for Jewish immigrants and families in need to building and sustaining the State of Israel to providing support and programming for Jewish education and engagement in our broad Bay Area community.

In recent years, our three Federations have worked closely together to strengthen our impact. Our Campus Israel Engagement Initiative, our response to the North Bay wildfires, and the implementation of the Teen Education and Engagement Initiative are just a few examples.

The 2018 Portrait of Bay Area Jewish Life and Communities has given us deeper insight into our vibrant, diverse and highly mobile Jewish community, the fourth largest in North America. We are independently and jointly reviewing the data to see how we can best serve our greater Bay Area Jewish community in the future.

The Portrait has informed the planning processes of each of our Federations. The Jewish Federation and The Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay received a recommendation from their Re-Visioning Task Force that they pursue a consolidation with the San Francisco-based Jewish Community Federation. The San Francisco Jewish Community Federation and the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley are still in the process of working on their strategic plans. These will take some months to complete.

As we plan over the coming months, we will continue to look at collaborating in ways that will prove most impactful, efficient, and strategic for our communities. Our mission remains steady — together and independently our three Federations are committed to ensuring a thriving Jewish community in the greater Bay Area.
