Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By Alix Wall | December 14, 2018 Food coverage is supported by a generous donation from Susan and Moses Libitzky. The long awaited Babka by Ayélet bakery officially opened in Palo Alto on Dec. 13, after being in soft opening mode for several days. It’s open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Town and Country Village, 885 El Camino Real, Suite 15, Palo Alto. Of course, the Organic Epicure takes her job very seriously, and knows that readers are eagerly awaiting her report on it, so stay tuned for it in January. Reader Joel Kamisher, a retired news reporter who lives in San Francisco’s Sunset District, originally tipped us off to the fact that Shangri-La Vegetarian Restaurant on Irving Street — one of the city’s only kosher restaurants — had closed. We were unsuccessful in our attempts to get more information from either the owner or the certifying kosher agency. Kamisher, who lives close by, wrote to say that he was walking by the restaurant recently and spoke to a man inside whom he thinks is the owner. The man said that their rent had been hiked, but would answer no more questions. The restaurant is still shut, and another call placed to the kosher certifiers went unanswered. We will keep you updated. Alix Wall Alix Wall is a contributing editor to J.
