Wilensky | April 30, 2019 El Al’s direct flights to San Francisco begin in mid-May, and the plane itself is dressed for the occasion. The Boeing 787 that will make the inaugural trip has been covered on one side in an artistic rendering of several San Francisco landmarks — the Golden Gate Bridge, the Painted Ladies, a cable car and, in the distance, the silhouette of Alcatraz. The image was created by Israeli illustrator Shay Vadal. The plane has been dubbed the “Haifa Dreamliner,” referring to Israel’s own city by the bay and an official sister city of San Francisco. The other side of the plane features an illustration of Las Vegas landmarks, as the Haifa Dreamliner will also be the first plane to fly El Al’s new direct route to Las Vegas next month. El Al will offer three nonstop flights a week between Tel Aviv and San Francisco beginning May 13. David A.M. Wilensky David A.M. Wilensky is director of news product at J.
