Bagel pop-up at Tartine; ‘Gefilte Manifesto’ co-author comes to Sacramento

Sign up for Weekday J and get the latest on what's happening in the Jewish Bay Area.

Food coverage is supported by a generous donation from Susan and Moses Libitzky.

Liz Alpern, the Brooklyn-based author of the 2016 cookbook “The Gefilte Manifesto,” co-founder of the artisanal gefilte fish company The Gefilteria and founder of Queer Soup Night, will be doing an Oct. 25 event at Solomon’s Delicatessen, the new Jewish deli in Sacramento. From noon to 2 p.m., Alpern will be on hand to speak and sign books (which will also be for sale, or people can bring their own). The regular lunch menu will be on offer, as well as some dishes from the book. Solomon’s Deli is at 730 K St.

Midnite Bagel, a San Francisco pop-up venture we reported on not too long ago, is offering bagels every Friday evening starting at 6 p.m., both to eat in-house and to go, at Tartine’s original 18th and Guerrero location, Eater reported. It’s a project of Tartine’s lead bread baker, Nick Beitcher, who hopes to open his own place eventually.
