Shaw Shoes

(415) 922-5676  •

Celebrating 50 years in business in the same location on Union Street, Shaw carries some of the most unique shoes available in San Francisco. The owners make a twice-annual pilgrimage to Milan and hand select each shoe, most of which are born and hand-bred from fine Italian leather in a way that only Italy can do it! Beautiful handbags and men’s shoes, too.

Shoes on Solano

(510) 525-3832  BERKELEY
(510) 823-2290  OAKLAND

Check out Shoes on Solano, a returning champ on the J. hit parade. With stores in Berkeley and Oakland, the philosophy has always been that “you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style or vice-versa,” says CEO-owner Carol Fabretti. The store sells styles for women and children, including its own brand, SoleTerra Shoes, manufactured in Portugal. Shoes were always supposed to feel like this!

Footwear etc.

(800) 720-0572  •

Footwear etc., with eight stores in the South Bay/Peninsula area and an online operation, is a family-run business with the motto, “If it’s uncomfortable, we simply don’t sell it.” Styles range from outdoor shoes to slippers and sandals, with selections for men, women and children. With a nod to sheltering in place, they now offer more shoes for the house!

Sole Desire

Comfort, looks and a good price point…who could ask for more from a shoe store? With more than 20 Northern California stores, 10 in the North Bay and Marin, Sole Desire is a second-generation family-owned business specializing in stylish, comfortable footwear, including hard-to-find European brands. The store also offers accessories for women, plus men’s shoes in a couple of the stores. Their motto is “Feel Good in Style,” which they keep in mind with every shoe they offer to their customers.
