Weddings
Emma Goss and Héber Cruz Berber married on Feb. 23, 2025 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Rabbi Nico Socolovsky of Congregation Shir Hadash officiated the ceremony, which was held outdoors at Hotel Casa Cien, witnessed by 40 of the couple’s closest friends and family.
Goss is a J. staff writer and host of J’s original podcast, “Such a Match!” as well as a freelance reporter on NBC Bay Area. Cruz Berber, a native of Mexico City, is a senior accountant at Fortera, a materials technology company in San Jose. The couple delivered their vows in English and Spanish. During the reception, their first dance was a choreographed salsa number to the song “El Amor” by Tito El Bambino and Jenni Rivera. Their hand-painted papercut ketubah was made in Israel by ketubah artist Amalya Nini.
The couple had three ketubah witnesses, all friends of theirs from the Bakersfield Jewish Young Professionals, a social group Goss formed while working in Bakersfield in 2018, which is how she and Cruz Berber first met. The newlyweds live with their four cats in Mountain View and plan to honeymoon in Italy in the fall.
