Roya Hakakian: The Battle for Iran — The Iranian American writer will speak about life under authoritarian rule in a talk subtitled “Inside a Nation’s Struggle for Freedom.” At Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake St. 7-8:30 p.m. $8. 

Saturday | April 11
Nefesh Mountain in Concert — This New York–based bluegrass band blends American folk music with Jewish and Celtic influences. At Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake St., S.F. 7:30 p.m. $39.

Sunday | April 12
“The Road Between Us” — Documentary about retired Israeli general Noam Tibon’s actions to save his family and others on Oct. 7, 2023. At Congregation Beth David, 19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga. 2-4 p.m. Free. 

Thursday | April 16
The Mischlinge Exposé — Music and multimedia project about the “mischlinge,” a Nazi term for people with mixed Jewish and Aryan heritage, told by Carolyn Enger as documentation of her family’s history. Co-sponsored by the Osher Marin JCC and Congregation Rodef Sholom. At JCC, 200 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael. 6:30-8 p.m. Free; registration required.

Wednesday | April 8
“Lost in Yonkers” — Award-winning play about a family struggling to make ends meet in 1940s New York. Through April 19. Post-performance discussion with cast on April 8, and pre-performance Pride mixer at 6:30 p.m. April 15. At Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek. $31-$95. 

Thursday | April 16
No Lines in the Sea — Vocalist Elana Sasson, Queralt Giralt on cello and Bahar Badiei on oud perform music in seven languages on the theme of water. At the Magnes, 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley. 5:30-7 p.m. $5-$30.

“On Being Jewish Now” — The Braid Theatre presents American Jewish stories in a post-Oct. 7 world.
