Limmud Bay Area, a two-day, lay-led Jewish educational gathering, will open registration for its 2013 retreat soon after the High Holy Days. The event will be held Presidents’ Day weekend, Feb. 17 to 18 (with Feb. 16 optional) at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, on the Monterey Peninsula.
The 2012 pilot conference filled up more quickly than expected, said organizers. Participants attended sessions ranging from Talmud to psychology, from film to food, to Israeli politics. This year, organizers will make a special push toward recruiting Jews in their 20s and 30s, and volunteer and organizing opportunities are abundant, said Mila Wichter, president of Limmud Bay Area, in a statement.
The first Limmud conference was held 32 years ago in England, and has now spread to 60 locations worldwide.
