Yiddish life in song
Ruth Rubin (1906-2000) devoted her life to preserving Yiddish songs and poetry. She recorded Yiddish singers in libraries, old folks’ homes, kitchens and Carnegie Hall. Accordionist and singer Jeanette Lewicki, who spent time last summer transferring Rubin’s archives from tape to computer, will perform songs from the collection at the Jewish Community Library on May 9. Please note that this program involves adult material, so may not be appropriate for the whole mishpocha.
