The East Bay International Jewish Film Festival has found a new location for its Pleasant Hill screenings next year: the Century 16.
The festival previously used the CinéArts in Pleasant Hill, but the iconic domed theater was demolished in early May to make way for a retail store. Advocates for the five-screen dome, built in 1967, said it was one of the few theaters in Contra Costa County that showed independent and foreign films.
Following the demolition, Cinemark offered the film festival space at its much newer Century-brand theater, according to EBJFF director Riva Gambert.
The 19th annual festival will be held in March 2014. In addition to the Pleasant Hill location, which will hold screenings March 7-13, films will be shown in Orinda and Livermore.
