More than 1,000 people came together in New Jersey to break the Guinness World Record for largest shofar ensemble.
Participants in the Sept. 21 “Great Shofar Blowout” at the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus in Whippany sounded the shofars together for five minutes, NJ.com reported. The event was sponsored by the Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life, the identity-building organization of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest in northern New Jersey.
The New Jersey group snapped the shofar ensemble record set in Swampscott, Mass. in 2006, when 796 shofar blowers came together on the beach.
The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life, which is based on the Whippany campus, has been planning to break the record since 2006, according to NJ.com. — jta
