Berkeley rabbi Sara Shendelman and daughters Aliya Fastman and Shaendl Davis will celebrate the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat with a ceremony of stories, song and crafts. The event takes place 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at Afikomen Judaica store in Berkeley.

Tree of life necklaces

The rabbi will sing and tell stories about the holiday, which celebrates trees and nature, and display for sale her artistically mounted “Tree of Life” copper sculptures. Her daughters will bring their tree-shaped pendants, made of semiprecious stones and crystals. A portion of the proceeds from the “tree trunk show” will go toward planting olive and fruit trees in Israel.
