Palo Alto’s Oshman Family JCC new School for the Performing Arts offers afterschool classes in drama and music for grades K-12.
Designed for students of all backgrounds and skill levels, the school officially opened Feb. 3 with four classes in choir and drama. Enrollment remains open throughout the month. Scholarships will be available in the fall.
Later this year, the school will add additional theater, instrumental and voice. Each semester culminates in performances at the JCC’s Schultz Cultural Arts Hall.
Edna Koren, school manager and curriculum designer, called the school “a new and exciting chapter” for the JCC. A native of Israel, she is a classical pianist and experienced arts educator.
Faculty includes music teacher Ofer dal Lal and drama instructor Kay Kleinerman. All classes feature some Jewish content, highlighting contributions from Jewish playwrights, composers and other artists.
