Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay will present “Behind the Headlines: A Jewish Community Briefing on the Global Refugee Crisis” next week in Oakland.
The program will feature insights from several speakers, including two Syrians with ties to JFCS: Randa Alsafi, a Syrian immigrant who is a JFCS resettlement case manager, and Subhi Nahas, a Syrian refugee who was resettled by the agency. Rounding out the panel will be Mark Hetfield, president and CEO of HIAS, and Avi Rose, executive director of JFCS East Bay. Rabbi Jacqueline Mates-Muchin of Temple Sinai will serve as moderator.
