More than 200 volunteers from about a dozen East Bay Jewish organizations will participate April 10 in Tikkun Olam Chessed Day. Tasks range from planting and clean-up projects to working with seniors. Participants are asked to bring toiletries and personal hygiene items for “welcome home kits” for newly arriving refugees being resettled by Jewish Family & Community Services of the East Bay.
Those with no time to volunteer are invited to drop off children’s books at Oakland’s Beth Jacob Congregation, bring socks to Berkeley’s Congregation Netivot Shalom in the afternoon or drop off toiletries from 4 to 6 p.m. at Oakland’s Temple Sinai.
