Strike up the band. “The Promised Band,” a new low-budget documentary heating up this year’s festival circuit, is coming to SF DocFest. Directed by New York filmmaker Jen Heck, the film follows a group of Israeli and Palestinian women who form a fake punk band to maintain friendships and get through a border crossing. Co-presented by S.F. Jewish Film Institute.
