U.C. Davis faculty, staff and students called on school administrators “to do more” after fliers were posted on two campus buildings last week directing readers to a white supremacist website.

The fliers, asking “Are you sick of anti-white propaganda in college? You are not alone,” appeared Nov. 14. The school sent a letter to students that day saying the fliers had been removed because “information may not be posted on buildings, walls, windows, trees, blackboards or other surfaces.”

An open letter to the campus community and signed by faculty, staff and students says the administration did not go far enough.

“U.C. Davis should immediately develop a protocol for making itself a sanctuary campus for undocumented students, staff and family members who face imminent detention and deportation,” the letter says. “In a historic moment that has seen racism, xenophobia, misogyny, nativism and other forms of violent disrespect on prominent display, we are compelled to stand ever more resolutely on the side of our common humanity.”
