An art exhibit and supervised activities for children also will be included in the festivities.

Proceeds from the event, sponsored by the ALSJCC and Palo Alto Jazz Alliance, will provide scholarship funds for families in need. The center is located at 655 Arastradero Road. For tickets, which are $25 general, $20 for seniors and free for children, call (650) 493-9400.

Coinciding with the centennial will be a class on Gerswhin’s compositions, titled “Porgy & Bess,” at 2 p.m. Tuesdays from April 14 to June 2 at ALSJCC. The instructor, Herb Wong, authored the annotations for “Gershwin and Jazz,” a collection of the Smithsonian Institution.

Cost is $35 for members, $42 for non-members.
