Omar with his arm around Niran
Niran and Omar in Los Gatos

The court suspension of President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration allowed Niran, an Iraqi refugee, to join her husband, Omar, in Santa Clara after being kept in limbo for several days. Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley helped bring about the reunion just before Valentine’s Day, which the couple marked by buying flowers.

Also arriving in the U.S. after being trapped in Moscow was Bella, a 76-year-old Jewish refugee who waited nearly three years to join her son in San Jose.
