Applications for Bend the Arc’s Jeremiah Fellowship are open for its 2017 cohort.
The fellowship is for young Jews who are interested in economic and social justice, and is open to those between 22 and 32 who live in the San Francisco Bay Area or Southern California.
Fellows will build skills, engage in Jewish study and reflection. It involves daylong Sunday sessions once a month, as well as two weekend retreats. Fellows will also participate in Bend the Arc’s social and economic justice campaigns.
“This year connecting with Bend the Arc means being part of the Jewish Resistance,” according to a Bend the Arc statement, referring to such cores issues as the immigration ban and the president’s proposed border wall.
The deadline for applications is May 19. For information, visit BendtheArc.us/Jeremiah-Fellowship.
Is there something dubious about some groups characterizing their partisan agenda as “social justice”? Once one has clothed one’s political positions in the cloak of righteousness, one can no longer brook differences of opinion. For those who see their political views as ‘social justice’, political disagreement becomes unrighteousness. To call one’s political position “social justice” is to announce one’s close-mindedness and intolerance.
