Former Vice President Al Gore will be in attendance for the July 24 screening of his new film, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” a featured documentary at this year’s San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. It will be featured as part of the festival’s Take Action Day, focused on films about pressing social and environmental issues.
Ten years after his controversial hit documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” shone a light on the catastrophic effects of climate change and urged viewers to take action, Gore is back with a sobering update.
The film opens with scenes of Greenland’s ice sheets melting, while climate change deniers are heard criticizing Gore’s first film. Local directors Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk will join the former vice-president on the stage at the Castro Theater, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets and information, sfjff.org
