Palo Alto JCC offers Sunday school classes
The Palo Alto School for Jewish Education has begun Sunday School classes at the Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center. Grades kindergarten through eight will meet at the JCC, 655 Arastradero Road, from 10 a.m. to noon. Hebrew and B’nai Mitzvah classes begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27. Yoga classes slated at Aptos synagogue
Two sessions of yoga classes will be offered this fall at Temple Beth El in Aptos. A beginner’s class will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 15 through Oct. 27. A class for more advanced students will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays Sept. 17 through Oct. 22. Both classes will take place in the synagogue’s social hall, 3055 Porter Gulch Road.
Participants will learn how to release tension, strengthen themselves physically and nourish their spiritual nature through this gentle form of yoga breathing, poses and positions.
Instructor Susan Hoffman was certified by the California State Yoga Teachers Association in 1976. The class is open to the public. The fee is $35 for the general public and $30 for synagogue members. Drop-in fees can be arranged with the instructor. For information, call (408) 684-0590.
2 parent classes to be offered in Belmont
Parents Place of the Peninsula, a program of Jewish Family and Children’s Services, will present two new parenting workshops in Belmont this fall.
“Developing Your Child’s Special Gifts (Building Self-Esteem)” for parents of children 5 to 12 years of age will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. “Positive Discipline” offers tips for parents of children ages 2 to 5, and will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19.
