Yes, that was me on KQED’s “Check Please, Bay Area” on Aug. 2, talking up Ba-Bite, a great Israeli restaurant near my house in Oakland that I was the first to write about for Berkeleyside’s Nosh (erstwhile bagel columnist Andy Altman-Ohr covered its opening for J.). (The name is play on the Hebrew babayit, “at home.”) If you missed it, you can catch it here. Unfortunately, after having a record weekend (thanks both to the show and the nearby S.F. Jewish Film Festival), Ba-Bite is closing on Aug. 13 due to a landlord dispute. I am hopeful it will rise again in another incarnation. I am a big fan of its food and chef, Mica Talmor, and will be watching what she and Robert Gott do next.
