According to Benny Gurfinkel, head of the Lower Galilee Regional Council, there is to be a new airport to serve Tiberias, to be located between the Golani and Poriya junctions, which will operational in June.
However, Ya’acov Dovev, marketing director of the Go Galilee said he opposed construction of the airport, which he said would hurt local residents’ quality of life.
