Building Bridges Together
A nonprofit organization that provides easy-to-implement interfaith dialogue programs for Jewish, Christian and Muslim faith communities, as well as colleges and universities. Interfaith Bridges™ programs build trust and foster relationships through shared meals and facilitated discussions.
Participants, in roughly equal numbers from two or three sponsoring faith communities, attend five two-hour sessions. College and university students attend three two-hour sessions. Each session includes a shared meal, a video presentation and facilitated small-group discussions on themes such as holidays, symbols and stereotypes. Participants share their personal beliefs and religious practices or traditions.
The faith community program is led by two facilitators from each participating faith community, while college and university administrators facilitate programs for their schools. Organization provides program resources, including a facilitators’ guide, video presentations, and planning and communications templates. Consulting and training are available. Lay facilitators plan and implement the program, facilitate discussions and coordinate logistics with their respective faith communities or schools.
Participants share personal experiences related to session themes and learn about people of other faiths. The program’s primary goal is to develop trust and relationships among participants, fostering greater understanding and cooperation. Additional programming is available for alumni of Interfaith Bridges™ programs.
