Some 450 teens were inside the JCC at a Club 18 dance, when organizers decided the room was filled to capacity. Around 150 teens remained outside, hoping to get in.

A few teens pushed the door open and organizers decided to end the dance.

The fact that the dance attracted about 600 teens shows that the JCC has been “successful in providing a safe place for kids to gather,” Levine said. The dance had created “a great atmosphere, but this was a group who were not JCC regulars and crashed the party when they couldn’t get in.”
