The Z3 Conference is the flagship, annual event of the Z3 Project, an initiative of the Oshman Family JCC. Since 2015, the conference has gathered scholars, educators, politicians, journalists and other leading figures from across the political spectrums of Israel and America for a day of debate and conversation, aimed at creating a new model of Jewish engagement in the 21st century.

Not every synagogue gala gets named “best event.” But not every synagogue is Conservative Congregation Beth Sholom, whose annual gala features a sit-down dinner, festive music and dancing, and words of wisdom from Rabbi Amanda Russell in the shul’s stunning modernist building on 14th Avenue.

Things get wild ’n’ crazy at this Conservative shul’s annual Purim celebration, where Rabbi Mark Bloom has in years past showed up as Matisyahu, Eminem and Ken (Barbie’s arm candy). Rock ’n’ Roll Shabbat is a Friday night treat once or twice a year featuring Bloom’s house band, “lots of singing, high volume, kids running around and plenty of ruach (spirit),” followed by a community dinner for folks to schmooze and get to know each other.
