“Trees, Time, and Tu Bishvat” — Artist tour and talk with Tiffany Shlain and Ken Goldberg, plus viewing of “DendroJudaeology: A Timeline of the Jewish People,” the artists’ reclaimed wood sculpture. At di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, 1150 25th St., S.F. 1-3 p.m. Free.

Friday | January 30
“Hinenu: Israel at Ten Million” Shabbat — Storytelling, prayers, dinner and music to mark publication of local author David Shlachter’s book of photographs and interviews with 100 Israelis showing the country’s diversity. 4:30-8 p.m. At Congregation Kol Shofar, 215 Blackfield Drive, Tiburon. $42-$63 per family.

EAST BAY

Thursday | January 29
“The Beginning of Possibility” — Rabbi Adina Allen and artist Naomie Kremer explore art and text and lead a workshop at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. Presented by the Magnes and Ayin Press. At 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley. 5:30-7 p.m. $5-$25. 

Sunday | February 1
“Soul of a Nation” — Film about Israeli political history, written and directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz. Presented by East Bay International Jewish Film Festival and Congregation B’nai Shalom. At B’nai Shalom, 74 Eckley Lane, Walnut Creek. 6:30-8:30 p.m. $10.

Jewish Nightlife: Hebrew Poetry, Kabbalah, and Coffee — A historical journey through Jewish culture blending storytelling and live music by Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale.
