SAN FRANCISCO

Sunday | April 19
“Positivity Is Omnipotent” — Alvin H. Baum Jr. memorial lecture spotlights the GenderCool Project, a youth-led program introducing transgender and nonbinary young people to those who say they’ve never met gender-nonconforming people. Plus meet the recipients of this year’s Robert Holgate Pride Award in Queering Religion. Presented by Swig Program in Jewish Studies and Social Justice. At University of San Francisco, Fromm Hall Complex. 6:30-8 p.m. Free. 

Friday | April 24
Early Shabbat Together — Songs, puppets and snacks for families with children up to 3 years and their siblings. Presented by JCC of San Francisco and Jewish Baby Network. At JCC, 3200 California St., S.F. 2:30-4 p.m. Free. 

NORTH BAY

Thursday | April 16
The Mischlinge Exposé — Music and multimedia project about the “mischlinge,” a Nazi term for people with mixed Jewish and Aryan heritage, told by Carolyn Enger as documentation of her family’s history. Co-sponsored by the Osher Marin JCC and Congregation Rodef Sholom. At JCC, 200 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael. 6:30-8 p.m. Free; registration required. 

Sunday | April 19
Women’s Gathering for Holocaust Remembrance Month — B’nai Israel Jewish Center’s women’s group hosts Susan Victor, co-president of the Alliance for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide at Sonoma State University, daughter and granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. Discussion will follow on what it means to be Jewish women inheritors of this legacy. Bring photos of women in your family and a story to share. At 740 Western Ave., Petaluma. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Free. 

EAST BAY

Thursday | April 16
No Lines in the Sea — Vocalist Elana Sasson, Queralt Giralt on cello and Bahar Badiei on oud perform music in seven languages on the theme of water. At the Magnes, 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley. 5:30-7 p.m. $5-$30. 

Sunday | April 19
Art of Living — Jonathan Safran Foer, award-winning author of “Everything Is Illuminated” and other works, is the featured speaker at JFCS East Bay’s “Art of Living” fundraiser, in conversation with local author Elizabeth Rosner. At Bloc15, Jack London Square, Oakland. 5:30 p.m. $180 general admission, $90 under age 40. 

PENINSULA/SOUTH BAY

Sunday | April 19
Mitzvah Makers: Tzedakah in Action — Volunteer as a family to create tzedakah boxes. Ideal for children ages 5-10. Online registration ends April 18. At JFCS’ Palo Alto office, 200 Channing Ave. 2-3:30 p.m. Free. 

Jewish Trivia Night — Answer trivia questions along with live music, kosher BBQ and baked treats, plus win prizes donated by Sandbox VR, Red Door Escape Room, CuriOdyssey science museum, Krembo and others. Proceeds benefit Kesher youth programs. At Peninsula Sinai Congregation, 499 Boothbay Ave., Foster City. 6-8 p.m. $25, $15 children.
