Elyse Feldman and her grandson Garrett Conry will become b’nai mitzvah in a shared ceremony on June 13. It was her grandson’s idea, Feldman recalls: “He said, ‘Bubbe, why don’t we do it together?’” She has been preparing at both Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto, where she’s been a member for 50 years, and The Community Synagogue in Westport, Connecticut, where he and his family are members. “He’s a great kid, and he’s working hard,” she says. “That’s what I’m getting out of it, is watching him.” The ceremony will take place at the Westport congregation.
